Dec 13, 2023The Best Presidents’ Day Sales 2023
My fellow Americans, these Presidents' Day deals have come to an end. If you're still looking for great savings on our favorite picks, check out the Wirecutter Deal's page.
Presidents’ Day has historically been associated with three things: long weekends, sales, and, well, presidents. As the first major sales event of the year, it was initially associated with white sales, during which retailers featured discounts on linens like sheets, duvet covers, and towels to signify starting a new year off fresh. Today, you can expect a host of hyped discounts on big-ticket items like large appliances, mattresses, laptops, apparel, and TVs. But with every retailer promising bargains worthy of Mount Rushmore, it's important to separate the quality deals from the overinflated duds. Though many sales have drawn to a close, the Wirecutter Deals team has rounded up the ones that are still going strong and truly worth your time and money.

Other things to know: Relatively pricey, but softer and smoother than any terry cloth option we tested. Set of 2 bath towels is $74 with code WCSET. Deal ends today.

Recent research has shown us that the best time to buy appliances is November, but that doesn't mean you can plan when your kitchen gear gives out. Whether you’re replacing an older model or making the switch from a gas stove or dryer to electric, Presidents’ Day can still be a solid opportunity to pick up new appliances for less. These sales don't quite match what you’d see during November sales, but the savings are nearly as good, and are certainly better than paying full price—or worse, waiting months for a new appliance. (And if you’re worried about your gas stove and other appliances, good news: You don't have to ditch your gas stove just yet. Our experts have shared some tips on ways to reduce gas appliances’ impact that don't involve pricey replacements.)

Stretchy instead of structured. Light compression. Super comfortable. Suede-like texture.
Other things to know: Very body-conscious fit, even for leggings. One tester (XS) likened them to "sausage casing" while two others (XXL and S) said they fit "perfectly" so it may vary. Is it time to invest in a new smartphone? Sadly, you're more likely to see a unicorn in the middle of the street than a substantial drop on an unlocked iPhone 14, but we are looking. Thankfully, there are some phones that do see discounts unlocked, as new devices from Android phone brands like Google and Samsung saw solid drops this Presidents' Day. Plus, don't forget about the discounts on all the accessories you'll need to keep your phone working at its best—including Wirecutter-approved USB phone chargers, lightning cables, phone mounts for cars, and even iPhone cases.

For those invested in the Apple ecosystem, Presidents’ Day can be a fruitful opportunity to save. Substantial discounts on MacBooks are nearly always hard to come by, but this year's Presidents' Day sales on Apple devices came with at least one solid drop on the older (but still viable) M1 MacBook Air. That deal has since come and gone, but we're still seeing discounts on devices like iPads and even the odd deal on the Apple TV.

Most of these kitchen deals have since gone stale, but here are the ones that are still cooking.
Cosori Original Air Fryer Toaster Oven — Budget Pick Deal price: $170 with clipped on-page coupon; street price: $200

Last year's TVs are typically the first to go on sale, and often see deeper discounts than newer models—but that doesn't mean there aren't TV deals that are worth your time and money. Though this year's Presidents Day TV sales have come to an end, we saw competitive prices on some of our favorite LED and OLED models. And if you need help wading through the TV-buying process or parsing the techy lingo, our experts have shared the wisdom they’ve picked up from the hundreds of hours they’ve spent researching and testing.
Last year, we saw eBay slash the prices of everything from cordless stick vacuums to smart TVs. The online retailer followed suit with its 2023 Presidents’ Day sale, which featured discounts on brands like Dyson, iRobot, and more—even our gaming-TV picks for the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. This sale has since ended, but we look forward to seeing its future offerings.
We saw Presidents’ Day sales from a wide variety of retailers this year—and some are still kicking. From sitewide markdowns to exclusive promo codes to be used at checkout, there are an abundance of deals being offered—but they’re not all necessarily the best (or even real discounts). We’ve already highlighted the most notable sales above, but if you’re looking for something specific that we haven't covered, this could be a nice opportunity to save a little.
Best Buy: Best Buy's Presidents’ Day Sale launched last week, with promised sales on appliances, Apple gear, and TVs. Our findings when we dug into this sale were underwhelming, with higher-than-expected pricing on laptops, headphones, and fitness equipment, including one of our adjustable dumbbell picks.
Burrow: Burrow's Presidents’ Day sale features a sitewide discount when you use promo code PREZ23 at checkout. Unfortunately, this doesn't necessarily match previous deals we’ve seen on their big-ticket items, but it can make a difference when buying smaller-scale home accessories like rugs and lamps.
Costco: Costco's Presidents’ Day Appliance Savings Event features discounts on mattresses and various large appliances, like dishwashers, electric and gas stoves, and washers and dryers. You can also find savings on a variety of Wirecutter-approved tech, including a bundle featuring our top Android-smartwatch pick, the Samsung Galaxy Watch5, and two fast chargers.
Floyd: Floyd's modular designs and customizability made it a stand out in our modern bedframe and sofa buying guides. Offering 25% off sectionals and 20% off the rest of their merchandise, the furniture retailer's sitewide Presidents' Day sale doesn't stand out quite as much, but it's still a good opportunity to save on some statement pieces to modernize your space.
Home Depot: Home Depot hosted a Presidents’ Day sale on large appliances and select furniture, mattresses, and home decor. While not all the remaining deals are worth the spend, it's worth checking out if you’ve been waiting to pick up a new refrigerator or washing machine.
HP: HP's Presidents’ Day sale is still live, with promised discounts of 40% on select gaming PCs and up to 50% on select gaming accessories. Those percentages are based on retail pricing, so temper your expectations, but you may still find deals.
Hydro Flask: It's no secret we love the Hydro Flask, but if you've ever wanted to see what all the fuss is about, now's a great opportunity. We wish it had a wider range of deals, but Hydro Flask's Presidents' Day sale is still going strong with notable drops on some of our favorite road trip gear and water bottles.
IKEA: IKEA may not be having a Presidents’ Day-specific sale this year, but that doesn't mean it hasn't joined in on the fun. As part of the IKEA Sleep Sale, the Swedish retailer is offering discounts on everything sleep related, including bed frames, lamps, and even air purifiers. None of our picks are currently part of this promotion, but if you’d like to check it out, you have until February 26.
Sleep Number: After testing various Sleep Number models over the years, we know you can get a more comfortable mattress for a lot less. But its pillows are another story—the retailer's BOGO 50% sale on all pillows (like our top pick for stomach-sleepers) may still be worth your time.
